Are there any plans for that bridge crossing US 1 on veridea parkway to increase the lanes or add a spot for pedestrians? Or is that a potentially new bridge crossing US 1 towards perry road (sorry the map legend is a bit blurry)
There is an existing bridge at Tingen/Veridea Parkway and a new bridge planned at Perry Road. I think the Perry Road bridge will happen before the Tingen bridge gets expanded. I don't think either will happen anytime soon.
The narrowness of the Veridea Parkway bridge was raised during the Seymour Rezoning request and approval. The Veridea roadway was downgraded from 4 lanes to 3 lanes in part due to the two-lane bridge. It will become a choke point; it was not designed for pedestrians or bicycles. The Seymour/Tingen corners project was approved without the Grace Christian Traffic Impact analysis. Perry "crossway" changed from a highway interchange to a bridge to lower the cost. Perry Road will need to be widened and upgraded for the bridge.
You all need to start focusing on fixing existing infrastructure instead of going out and expanding. Due to the crappy road conditions of Old 1, which is travelled by many each day, I have had to have multiple alignments to my car. Pot holes and bumps are not the way to display growth when you can't maintain what currently exists.
Many traffic lights are not aligned to stop long lines of cars in the PM, Hunter and 55 - you have to wait through multiple light changes to even approach 55 if coming from downtown.
Mindset is growth. Mindset should be maintenance of what you currently have!
