Surprised to hear Town Hall space is constrained given the fairly recent addition of the Mason Street Municipal Building (which surely is not still Under Construction as https://www.apexnc.org/430/Town-Buildings-Facilities says?). I have noticed the south side of first floor of Town Hall seems to have been undergoing renovation for a while. Even after that is done Town Hall will be short on space? What sort of space is Town Hall short on -- office, meeting?
Both. The facilities study I'm referring to looks at 10 year and 20 year horizons, so a lot of this is future planning. We discussed it on day 2 of the retreat and I'll make a post about it soon
Can the Tunstall House be converted in whole or part to a Wedding/Event Venue. It is charming and could easily be a revenue source and not an administrative cost.
I mean, it's possible. I'm not sure the town wants to get in the wedding venue business though. If we did I'm guessing we'd contract management out
We have a real need for overflow space though
Keep in mind the usage could change over time. My hope is it eventually is a Senior Center Annex, just available space that can be programmed (card games/clubs, etc)
The reality is the town can only control the "type" of use (commercial, residential, etc) and some parameters on sizes, but we explicitly can not control specific businesses or owners from moving in. The town was not asked about the Dollar store
A lot of case law on this in the state and nation from the days when everyone would fight Walmarts coming to town
Thanks for the information

Thanks for the summary, super helpful.

Why is a dollar store coming to VOA. Hardly demographics we represent. So disappointing will be an exodus. Including us.
