Ed Gray and Shane Reese Campaign Kickoff for Apex Town Council
And a reminder about our Community Town Hall Event tonight
Hey everyone - I just got word that Ed Gray is hosting a free campaign kickoff event this weekend (Sunday 2pm at the Halle), featuring guest speaker Senate Minority Leader Sydney Batch. It’ll be a joint launch event with Shane Reese. This is a good opportunity to show your support for Ed, Shane, and Sydney, but also to hear an update from local and state leaders about what they’ve done the past few years, where we are now, and where we want to go in the future. I think it’s important and I encourage you to attend - I’ll be there.

I have worked with Ed on the Town Council for 4 years now, and what has struck me is his incredible dedication to public service. He brings a unique blend of experience, as a retired U.S. Air Force officer, a former federal prosecutor, and currently an Assistant Federal Public Defender in the Eastern District of North Carolina. He has my endorsement.
Shane Reese has deep community roots. A graduate of Apex High School and N.C. State University, Shane grew up locally and now raises his three children in town, fostering a true connection to Apex’s schools, neighborhoods, and future.
As former president of the Apex Downtown Business Association and a key member of the Downtown Master Plan and Parking Study steering committees, Shane helped attract over $30 million in investment—enhancing streetscapes, parking, and pedestrian safety in the heart of town. Alongside the Apex Police Department, he also helped install a new pedestrian crossing signal at Salem & Saunders.
I have never seen any non-incumbent as prepared for the role of Town Council Member as Shane is. He also has my endorsement this year.
